Note: Admission Guidelines for February 2026 Entrance Examination

Applicants residing in Japan must apply using the Japanese-printed booklet (the paper version of the Admission Guidelines). Therefore, please refer to the section “Requesting the admission guidelines by post” and ensure you obtain the booklet version. Please be aware that if you apply using the downloadable English version, you may be asked to resubmit your application.

Requesting the Admission Guidelines by post

Please enclose a self-addressed “LetterPack (レターパック)”, and send it to the address below, including a note stating the name of the admission guidelines and program (Master’s/Doctoral), and your contact information such as your name, phone number, and email. Clearly write in red on the envelope the name of the admission guideline.

Academic Year of 2026-2027
  1. Prior to submitting your application documents, applicants who have graduated from a university outside of Japan need to undergo a screening by the Admission Assistance Office (AAO), Kyoto University. For details, access the AAO website above directly.
    Applicants must have approval of the professors/associate professors of the Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University prior to submission of the application materials to the Student Affairs Division.
  2. Please ask a faculty member who has given his/her informal consent for the research guidance to obtain the necessary forms for the application.
